Please see the attached information regarding a covid-friendly way of signing nomination papers for candidates for local office. It will be on two Saturday mornings behind the Prescott School.
All candidates for Groton elective office are invited to participate.
Dear fellow candidate,
To collect nomination signatures, I invite you to participate in two Voter Sign & Go! events, Saturdays, March 20 and April 3, from 9 a.m. to noon behind the Prescott School. (Rain date: the following Sunday, same time.)
How will this work?
Groton voters will be invited to park and then sign nomination papers on tables set up outside. They can remain socially distanced and safely sign. We will ask them to bring a pen, but new, clean pens will also be available.
What do you need to do?
RSVP to me ASAP.
Spread the word. Participating candidates will receive a flyer to share and post on social media.
Get your papers on a clip board to the event by 9 a.m. and retrieve them by noon. Candidates alone are responsible for their papers.
Sign each other's papers.
Do not assume the events will result in 50 valid signatures. There are no guarantees. Candidates alone are responsible for collecting the signatures.
The challenge of signature collecting in a pandemic should not deny ballot access to a candidate willing to serve our town. All candidates for Groton elective office are invited to participate. This is a volunteer organized event and not sponsored by the Town of Groton. Please let me know if you wish to participate, so we can plan accordingly. Thank you Jason Kauppi
